IoT Initiatives of Non-Life Insurance Companies

Since last December (2021), we have seen an increase in reports of non-life insurance companies’ efforts related to the IoT.
There are three main reasons why non-life insurance companies are showing interest in and working on IoT.

  1. Global warming and other factors have recently led to an increase in the number of major disasters. Since both non-life insurance companies and local governments share the same idea of predicting disasters and limiting damage when they occur, they are working to predict and mitigate disasters using IoT and AI in limited regions.
  2. Demonstration tests on automated vehicle operation have begun in many parts of Japan, but it is necessary to define the response and evaluation criteria in the event of an accident.
  3. Download data on disasters and accidents that you already have for use in disaster prevention and mitigation. Or use new devices (IoT devices, etc.) to create new criteria for decision making.
