Earthquake countermeasures

Ten years have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake.
At that time, the building where I was working had a vibration control device installed,
The rolling did not stop easily, and the moving shelves on the wall side were moving many times.
The reason why the utility poles of the Tohoku-Hokkaido were tilted due to the earthquake that occurred last month.

It is said that it is due to long-period vibration, but it may have been the same as the rolling motion at that time.
I walked home for 4 hours on the day, and although the conventional line was stopped,
The Tokaido Shinkansen was driving back at Shin-Yokohama Station. There is a power outage
There are some areas, and some areas are energized, so I felt that luck and bad luck were all about paper.

Other than the power supply, it became difficult to connect to e-mails, and it became difficult to connect to neighbors and mobile phones, but since I was able to call my parents’ house, I was able to know the safety of the whole family during the day.
Last week, I attended a lecture on disaster prevention. The lecture was planned by an NPO based on the lessons learned from the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, and it was helpful as it introduced first aid methods and disaster prevention goods using things around us at the time of the disaster.
The disaster will come when you forget it, but if you prepare for the rules and stockpile at home and at work, check the evacuation route, etc., you will not be worried.

Both are related to confirmation of the soundness of the structure after the earthquake and unlocking. Earthquake prediction and notifications are not included.

This is not because the IoT is ineffective against earthquakes, but for two reason I can think of it.
The first is that many sensors have already been installed in the sea or on the ground.
Immediately on infrastructure such as smartphones, PCs, railways, and roads by P waves at the time of an earthquake
There is a mechanism to provide information, but it is all the responsibility of the public.

The second is the cost burden of maintenance and maintenance of the communication infrastructure from detection to notification.
I don’t think you can rely on the private sector.
The point is that the public is responsible for sensing and communication against earthquakes.
Despite being an advanced IoT technology, it is not generally recognized.
It seems to be a reality.
