Disaster, disaster prevention case study IoT

After the Tokyo Olympics, many people were disappointed because they couldn’t visit the grave during the Bon holidays due to the record long rain like the end of the rainy season and the Covid-19 pandemic.
This time, I investigated disasters and disaster prevention including flood damage.

About disasters and disaster prevention

Japan is a country with many natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes, but it is called “disaster” or “disaster prevention”.
If you search for IoT by keyword, you will find “incident”, “accident” and “occupational accident”.
There will also be an article about it.
The following is what we learned from this survey.

  • Regarding flood damage, following the heavy rains in western Japan that killed 224 people in 2018, the damage amounted to 2,150 billion yen, the largest ever in 2019, and various proposals by IoT are increasing from 2020.
  • There are many case studies in western Japan.
  • Most of them are outdoors, and most of them are wireless.
  • There are many proposals for local governments and few for the manufacturing industry, but as mentioned above, there are many products and systems that can be diverted to various industries such as agriculture, fishing, construction, and transportation because they are outdoor and wireless.
  • There are many data processing / analysis (AI) and various systems.
  • System sales are overwhelmingly large, and there are few proposals that use special devices / sensors or require system development.
